The fierce Estrella had fallen asleep on the king size bed that had been pleasantly lavished with silken sheets. Her body was completely covered by them. The only part of her that one could see was her face. During the early night, she spent most of it dwelling on her past. The exhaustion from dealing with idiots and her emotional exhausting trips back to past had taken over. She dozed off while she waited for the bird-brain to return. She had no idea where he had gone and had not bothered to look for him either.
Nick, the security guard, muttered his entire trip up the stairs to the floor that kept Mrs. Almasy awaiting. A part of him felt somewhat luckier than his janitor friend because his janitor buddy had to visit the more violent one out of the two females. At least the one he visited, had not yet thrown a punch. He could not tell that anyone had followed him, therefore, he spoke to himself to relieve the stress he felt.
"I just want to go up to that Estrella woman and ask her why in the world she would marry a violent psychotic like Seifer. She looks like she innocent while he looks like he wants to kill somebody, and it will probably be me if this keeps up! He probably has killed a lot of people ha. I wouldn't put it past that guy. First, he was a bully and now who knows what the hell he is. He has always been up to no good." He looked angry at himself for having not spoken up to the woman the first time he had met her. If she was married to Seifer, it was likely not by choice. It was then he started to think differently. Perhaps she was forced into it? He remembered the kiss in the video tape and slightly modified his perspective on how it went. From what he had seen, Seifer latched onto her wrist and pulled her into him. She had no other choice, but to obliged. He twisted the scene to fit what he thought was right. Unknown to him, he was completely off what truly happened.
Once he reached her room, he was about to knock on the door when he noticed there was a "do not disturb sign" placed on the door knob. How convenient... Since his boss was about for a smoke break, he had to report back to her. He didn't want to get fired just yet. Then the strange bird creature came out of nowhere. Was he following him? Without saying hello, the strange creature opened the door and slammed it onto his face.
"Hey..wait...ACK!" He shouted out in pain from the door being shut onto his face. The creature's inconsideration for the guard's face was obvious. While holding onto his throbbing nose, he decided to take the hint and leave them alone. He had enough pain for that evening.
"Well Senorita...you have some sweet dreams tonight. I'll be back to warn you about the man you're with. You'll thank me when it is over." He walked away and started to hum a tune.
"When it's morning, I am going to give that Estrella girl a piece of advice. She will thank me for it YES sir ee!" He felt a bit better that he may be doing the world a favor. When this night was over, he would be the savior of the hotel. There would be stories of his heroism for years to come. He was unable to make it at Balamb Garden, but at least he learned something about justice.
The "sleeping beauty" let out a quiet "huh" sound when she heard a saddened melody drift into the room. In her deep unconsciousness, she didn't know that Auguro had returned. Her eyes opened and slowly her body rose to see where the music was coming from. Though the music was sorrowful in nature, she was surprised at how harmonious it sounded. It was like she had listened to a legendary musician without knowing it. In most cases, she would have been extremely frustrated at the individual waking her up. This was different. The music wasn't loud or obnoxious. It was sweet and touching.
She let the artistic bird sing a couple of minutes before she had enough of it. They still had a mission to accomplish in the morning.
"Hey one man band..would you mind? There are people trying to sleep in here you know." Her voice sounded slightly irritated, but she had not said it loud enough for Auguro to hear it.
Then she caught sight of how depressed he looked. He had had his face burred into his cowl. There was a part of her that felt bad and wanted to comfort him which was noted by her softened facial expression. On the other hand, her first instinct, which meant being tough minded because of the night she had, drove her to demand that he'd go to sleep.
She stood onto her feet to reveal that she currently wore a silky, white night gown. Just as she was about to go grab the talented bird, her cell phone rung.
"What the?" Her head turned over to her cell phone. The lights of her phone illuminated the dark room. Its sudden ring shocked her. It was rare that it rang especially at this stage of the night. Without further delay, she picked up her cell phone and answered it. Her tired eyes failed to see who it was that called her with the cell phone's built in caller i.d. Therefore, she answered it with an everyday greeting.
"Hello?" She said.
A deeper and very familiar voice to her, on the opposite end, responded to her greeting.
She talked very generally because of the fact that Auguro was on the balcony nearby. No one could make out what exactly was being said on the other end.
"You know where I am."
"No, I didn't run into any chicken wusses."
"Yes, I am sure. I would kick their ass and you know it. You know I can handle myself right?"
"I don't think we should talk about this right now. I have Auguro near here. He seems a bit upset too. Okay..okay hold on a moment damn."
Realizing that the conversation was starting to get more personal, she decided the best course of action was to excuse herself.
"Auguro I am going to go get you some Soy Ice Cream. You should get your ass to sleep while I do." She made no mention about his singing. She thought it was best not to because it was his private life. What she had not known is that he knew something more about her than she expected. Nevertheless, she had no knowledge of Auguro's experience that night or why he was sad in the first place. After she reassured the elderly bird that she would get him some ice cream, she left the room in her white night gown and effortlessly walked down the hallway.
"Yes, I am still here. Why are you calling me right now ?"
A slight chattering sound could be heard from the other end.
"You were checking up on me? Why? This mission isn't dangerous. I saw it on your desk. You know better than to put something dangerous on your desk. We've had this discussion several times before.
"So you're saying that this escaped lab experiment is dangerous. Why? I don't think there is anyone more dangerous than I am."
Before long, she had stopped at the end of the hallway. Her back pressed against the wall.
"This experiment knows me..what are you saying by that? I didn't see a name in the folder that would indicate otherwise."
"You removed it...why? Was it someone I would beat into a bloody pulp if I saw the name ? It did say that this experiment had to come back to the lab alive....."
She dropped her phone at the name mentioned to her. On the other line, the voice called out her name several times to get her to respond or say anything for that matter. Her eyes widened with shock and her breathing had stopped in that instant. Both the straps of her night gown fell midway down her arms because of how still she had become from the new information presented to her. This couldn't be. It couldn't be. It was impossible. Keeping her back pressed against the wall, she had not yet picked up the phone for the concerned caller yelling at her from the other line.
"A..arcadia!" Her lips quivered after she coughed up the name.
The janitor walked outside to where his boss was resting. She looked tired from what transpired that night.
"Did you do what I asked Nick?" Suzanna had to make sure that everything had been done right.
"She was sleeping boss." He replied simply.
"Well, I expect you to do it first thing in the morning then." She said with authority. After puffing one last time, she stood onto her feet.
"Where is that janitor friend of yours? I wonder if he had any luck with the food." She hoped that the janitor would have reported back with better news. Somehow, she wasn't beaming with confidence. The entire night had been a disaster.
