The instructor led the two girls to their rooms where they would be staying for the remainder of their time at the military academy. Before leaving, the instructor handed them paperwork to complete.
"Please fill out these forms and let me take pictures of you," she requested. The two women complied, completing the paperwork and standing straight while the instructor snapped photos. She then organized their files into folders, preparing to hand them in to her superiors.
"My name is Instructor Ten," she introduced herself. "I'll be helping you two transition to your schedules. For now, please go ahead and get changed and meet us at the field in 2 hours," she explained.
"Thank you for your help," Estrella replied respectfully. Taking the blue uniform, she entered the room with her new roommate and offered a smile. "It's nice meeting you here. What is your name?"
The green-haired girl blew a bubble, taking her uniform and setting it on the bed next to the window. "Doubt we'll be friends, but the name's Chase," she said with little kindness, conveying her skepticism that Estrella would be a suitable companion.
Estrella got the hint, feeling a bit uneasy with her new roommate, but she decided to give it time.
"Our instructor seems really nice. It looks like we are the only two women here. It's nice having another girl to talk to. Nice to meet you, Chase," she said, heading to the bathroom to change into the blue uniform as commanded by their new commander.
Chase decided to be clear with Estrella, having changed herself. "Look, I don't want to give you false hope. I don't plan on being your friend. I kinda like the commander and have no intentions of associating myself with someone who was late on the first day," she said straightforwardly. Estrella realized that her first impression probably scared many of the cadets around her because Seifer had already disciplined her on day one.
"I understand," she nodded. "I'll make sure to keep to myself then." She wasn't about to force the issue.
Chase liked the commander, and it was evident that she had joined the military academy solely for him. Having witnessed him beat up the thieves, she believed he was the right man for her. However, Estrella had different motivations. She wasn't there for any man but to seek justice for her fallen kingdom. Her focus remained on her friends and family.
"Ha, well maybe he will like you back. You already seem like his type," Estrella said, attempting to be friendly anyway. Chase shot her a glare.
"Don't get in my way. The boys in this town are pretty pathetic. I need someone like him," she warned, making it clear to Estrella not to interfere with her intentions.
Estrella nodded.
"He's all yours." She had no intention of pursuing the man.
