The Crowded Streets of Deling City

[Anju Kinugasa]

"Wow....What an amazing scene..." The teenage youth said to herself, as she squeezed through a few people out on the streets of Deling City.

"There's so much to see around here! Sure wish I had a map or a tour guide..." She joked, as her eyes focused on the dim lights of the area, and how beautiful it all was to a newcomer such as herself.

Anju Kinugasa continued on her current route, looking around and itching to hit whatever clubs could be found in this area. Or even if there wasn't any clubs for her to dance in, she could always find a nice little cafe to savor the flavors of. This city looked super high class.

The 16 year old could barely keep all the excitement to herself, much less all the excited sounds coming from her lips as she carelessly wandered around the huge city. She stopped once she realized how late in the night it was...and how much time had passed before she'd grabbed a bite to eat. 

Listening to the hard to hear sounds of her stomach gurgling as she laid a gloved hand on it, she cringed and groaned weakly.

"S-So hungry...." She groaned, sluggishly making her way backwards from her original path as she scanned the streets, looking for a cafe to eat at.

She grumbled a bit as she found she'd have to wade her way through a dozen more people lined up around her. 

"Damnit..." she sighed. "Guess this is just how cities operate, you make one wrong turn and suddenly you're surrounded..." She scoffed, pushing past a few people, not even taking the time to make sure who she was pushing past would be okay or not, not when she was so desperately hungry and the calling of her gut was so strong.

She paid no mind to the people calling out to her as she crawled into her seat at a cafe finally, and waited for service.

"Hm, which motorcycle should I take out today on a ride?" She maneuvered passed several motorcycles that had become part of her collection. Currently, she was staying at her vacation home in Sector 8. She enjoyed Deling City because of its rich atmosphere and colorful environment. It was the best place for her to grind out miles on her motorcycle. As she circled around the beautiful machines, she exhaled in disappointment.

The only bike that was her's was the smallest one of the bunch, yet the most stylish according to her point of view. It was purple in design. The disappointment look she had on her face turned a smile when she saw and remembered the strange, dinosaur-like emblem Seifer had painted on the side of it. He thought it was funny, but she found it secretly cute. The old bike was one she held dear to her heart. Glancing at the other bikes, she decided her's was the best. The other ones were too heavy and big for her to ride on. The one and only bike she had was the one given to her as a present. It was especially customized for her size and height too.

"Well looks like it's you again my old friend. You can out ride any of those bigger bikes anyway." She threw her leg over the top of the motorcycle seat and sat comfortably. Then she grabbed the black helmet that hung from the handle bar and placed it on her head. She lowered the visor as it would protect her eyes from unwanted debris. It was time to turn the beast on. With a kick from her heel and a twist of her wrist, the motorcycle roared.

The garage lifted slowly to reveal the black pavement she would ride on. Her one headlight lit the way and was her guide for the night. Glancing one last time at the other motorcycles, she then kicked the peg and sped off into the night.

At the busy shopping district, a man with yellow hair and black clothes was walking, looking left and right. He seems to be looking for something. However, this man emits a rather strange dark aura. Whenever people pass by, they tend to look at him, feeling uneasy. He never minded it though, as he was used to it ever since he obtained his GF.

Alias looks at the nearby shop, and walks slowly towards it. He leans by the counter, and talks to the clerk: "I need ten G-Potions and a couple of G-Returners, maybe around three." The clerk, feeling uneasy, just nods and walks away to find the said items. Alias then takes a glance around, looking at people. Knowing that this is already part of the Final Order, feelings of anger and vengeance arise from the bottom of his heart. "Our world will be free once more. Just you wait, you bunch of--" The clerk comes back and talks to Alias: "Here you go sir, ten G-Potions and three G-Returners."  He then pays the clerk and leaves without a word.

He walks by the historical place where the Sorceress Edea was trapped as a part of an assassination mission. He remembered as his colleagues descriptively talked about it before, imagining the scene. "Squall was here... and Seifer. I wonder how they fought." His imagination goes wild as his mind flies at the thought of Squall and Seifer fighting. Alias was just there, staring at the nearby gate.

After ordering something extra special and spending the max her budget would allow, Anju sat at her table, slurping from a straw placed in a beautiful looking smoothie drink.



She stopped and was oozing with satisfaction, as she purred to herself.



"This is just amazing~!!" She shouted, not caring that the citizens of the city could hear her every word.




"I might just skip out on going anywhere else...my word this is all just too much~! I can't wait to taste the food next! And maybe even dessert!!" She cooed to herself, not caring how ridiculous she must have sounded to everyone around her.

Keeping her excitement as contained as possible, she decided to spend her free time as she waited as patiently as possible people watching. One of her many habits as she traveled. One thing Anju knew for sure was that no matter how many places she'd traveled to or would travel to, the one thing that would equally change would be the people. How they look, and how they act mostly.

Yup from city to city, country side to country side, no one person was ever the same as the last. And this intrigued the youth. How a city could harbor not only unique structures; but people as well.

She grinned and sat back, staring at the city and it's people, her eyes staying in place as she watched people hustling around as though they were busy. And even though tonight was chilly, she felt so warm surrounded by the cities never ending lights.

"This place is like something out of a fairy tale..." She exclaimed, as she leaned forward to take another sip, glancing at a young man now, walking past a very elaborate building with many lights surrounding it's general area and the building it's self. "Wow....I wonder what that place is." She hummed to herself. "Maybe that guy's a tour guide." She thought, watching him walk off. "Or just a local." 

As she mused to herself, people began to make a fuss at the sound of a speeding motor bike. Which roared into her ears seconds later as she flinched, watching the blur of the machine and the person on it speed by. 



"Shit..." She mumbled to herself. "Talk about breaking the silence."

The motorcycle's engine growled with the twisting rotation of her hand on its handle bar. She sped through traffic weaving side to side through traffic. It looked easy to her as if riding a motorcycle was second nature to her. The cars beside her whizzed by in a flash. The people in nearby stores gazed out the window when they heard the loud, thunderous motorcycle race by. She enjoyed the adrenaline rush of how fast she was going, yet knew one slip could send her to the E.R.

"Seifer would kill me if he found out how fast I was going." She chuckled to herself. He was not around, therefore, this was her chance to at least have some fun. At the next intersection, she saw the light turn red and slowed down her motorcycle. She thought about running the red light. The reason she decided against it was for the sake of keeping a simple promise. She would not do anything reckless. Like a good Samaritan, she stopped at the red light. Her booted feet rested against the pavement to balance the motorcycle and herself. While she waited for the light to turn green, she revved the engine with authority. She wanted everyone in the area to hear its mean engine.

The elderly couple, in the car next to her, eyed her with annoyance. They didn't like how she dressed or her attitude towards noise.

"Will you keep that down Ms?" The old man shouted out the window.

She heard a faint sound next to her and turned her head. It was hard to see her expression with the helmet on, yet the two of them would soon find out she was not the type to take orders. There were two senior citizens giving her lip and that meant nothing to her. She smirked at their attempt to get her to be quiet. Shaking her head, she revved the engine even louder as her FU response to their request.

"I swear Tim. These kids keep getting rowdier and rowdier. We should contact the police." The elderly wife patted her husband.

[Alias Malvarr]

Alias hears a rather annoying sound of a roaring motorcycle. He turned his head towards the sound of the noise, and sighed. "People these days are just so damn noisy. I wouldn't wonder if that motorcycle just smashes a wall uncontrollably."

Suddenly, Alias remembered something. He seems to recall that he was here for something. However, he forgot what it was. "Hmm... I already bought my supplies." He said as he checked his potions. He then crossed his arms, lost in thought: "Do you remember, Zher?" A black tendon-like arm with blue-tinted muscles came out from behind him and slapped his head. Surprised, the man turned behind and became grumpy: "You didn't have to do that so say no, you know. Hmph." The arm made a tsk tsk gesture with it's hand and disappeared. "For a GF, you sure know to hit your owner where it hurts." Alias sighed again and just thought of forgetting about his business. "Might as well have a little walk."

He walks to the busy district to see any cafes. Upon walking by, he saw a very young girl with eye-catching features inside a specific cafe. "Isn't she too young to be alone in a cafe? Strange."

"Argh... this noise..."

Anju couldn't stand it, as she shot a look and a pout at the motorist. Sitting pretty on their edgy looking bike. She shook her head as she shut her eyes with a tortured look upon her face.

She leaned forward, her hands instantly covering her ears as she strained to keep herself in her seat. But oh how difficult it was...the beautiful silence of the night was being ruined right now.

Within a minute or two, she jumped to her seat with a determined expression on her features. Her eyes targeted onto the offending driver. 

"Can't you see there are people around trying to enjoy a good meal around here...!?" She shouted over the noise of the roaring bike. Not at all helping the situation.

When she didn't receive a response right away, in her impatient little mind, she gritted her teeth in anger.

"Hellooo~!! I'm talking to you!!" She shouted again, flailing her arms with every angered word.

"Are you even listening?! Or did you become deaf because of all the damn noise?!" 


Anju crossed her arms sourly and tapped her foot aggressively against the concrete. Whoever this person was, they sure were pushing her buttons. Not that they were really all that difficult to press to begin with.


Not only was she so distracted with this person, that she didn't notice the young man she'd been watching before was now looking her way, but also failing to hear the waiter over the intense impatience she was suffering.

Finally, when she had had enough, she exploded.

"HEY~!!"


She leaned forward, shouting as loud as she could possibly muster over the noise. But as the ringing in her ears quieted, her rage swelled as she found that even that hadn't worked to silence this stupid freaking bike!


"Do I have to seriously go over there?!" She shouted. Dumbfounded. "This person must really have gone deaf....WELL THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR RIDING SUCH A LOUD MACHINE!" 



When even that didn't work to grab this person's attention, finally, she just gave up. Obviously the old man in the vehicle beside them was simply more important.

"Well sheesh....if this person thinks they've gotten my goose....they're wrong! I'm going straight for my food, forget them!" 

She grunted out, as she retreated back to her table, and aggressively sucked at the straw in her smoothie as she was served.  At least this person was lucky her food was still warm. Otherwise she might've just snapped at them.

Her hand contentiously twisted the handle of her motorcycle to have it roar and shake the entire block. Her black, booted feet rested on the pavement as she anticipated the light to turn green. As she sat on her bike awaiting for the light to turn green, her head turned towards the Cafe that she visited sometimes. There was a red-headed woman who seemed to be upset with the noise she was making too as did some other residences. The red-head was easy to spot because of her overreaction. A smile spread on Estrella's lips, yet it was barely visible because of her visor.

To further tick off the red-head, she flicked her off. It was a sign to show those around her she didn't care what they thought. This was her daily routine of riding, pissing people off, and enjoying herself as she had done so.

"Fuck off..." She mouthed in her helmet. After she stuck her middle finger at the yelling tomato head, she rested her hands on the handle bars again. This time she upset the wrong people.

The elderly couple looked in disgust as the woman on the motorcycle acted like a vigilante. The old man felt

"That's it...I am calling Rick." The old man grabbed his cell phone. Rick was his younger son who worked as a mercenary. It was family owned business. Since the woman appeared to be a trouble maker, he assumed that she was an ex con. Though he was far from the truth, he would call his son. He had no idea that the rambunctious female on the motorcycle was someone important.

His wife looked on nervously.


"Are you calling Rick?" The woman's shaky voice was drowned by the sound of the motorcycle next to them.

"Yes, someone has to teach that young lady a lesson." He waited for his son to pick up, yet there was no answer. The old man did not know that his son was in the city and on the hunt for the exact woman he saw.

When the light turn green, Estrella sped off. Her front wheel came off the ground as it went into a poppa wheelie. She handled the motorcycle skillfully. There were some who even clapped at the sight. Even with the power and weight of the beastly cycle, she was able to get it back onto two wheels and race off into the distance.

[Alias Malvarr]

Alias covered his ears and looked at the woman as she sped off with her motorcycle. Somehow, his face expressed some irritation. "To think that it was a woman." Yet again, all he could was just sigh. "Zher, do me a favor... Knock that motorcycle over once you see it passing by. It really annoys me." A hand appears beside him with a thumbs up gesture, and quickly disappears.

He stared again at the young girl by the cafe. "Hmm..." As he finds himself staring, he then realized: "Oh yeah, this is a cafe. Might as well get in." So he opened up the door and went down for a seat.

A few moments later... he seemed to have a whole cheesecake on his table. "I haven't eaten this thing for a damn long time...!" Alias said, with himself breaking his usually gloomy and serious personality. He then proceeded to devour the whole cake down, enjoying every piece he puts in his mouth... "Ahhh... heaven..." It looks like he seems to have forgotten everything else around him, putting all his attention towards his beloved cheesecake.

Anju didn't even bother with looking back, and once she heard it's loud engine rev up and leave the area, she sighed in absolute bliss.

"Finally...what a rude jerk off." She muttered, grabbing her knife and fork and digging into her meal, her mood starting to get better with each passing bite.


"Hopefully that dumb bike of theirs gets towed. I'd sure get a laugh out of that." She said with a smirk, savoring each bite of the treat she had.

She then perked up and noticed that the guy she had been curious about before had entered the cafe. "Huh, guess this place is popular." She said to herself, watching him from her window seat outside.

She watched as he was served an entire cheesecake, and gawked at him openly. Her expression changing as he then devoured the entire thing to one of absolute horror.

Horror, and perhaps a tad bit of jealousy. 

Once she was over the shock, she quietly poked around in her wallet, staring at her pitiful little chunk of gil.

She groaned in shame and anguish.

"If only I hadn't picked the smoothie...." she complained to herself. Well, all that really meant was that once this meal was over with, she'd just have to be a smooth talker. See exactly if there was anyone willing to "donate" their extra cash to her..., she just had to think of the right and most innocent looking set up.

Would she play the sorrowful maiden again? Or the sultry bad girl? And just who should her audience be this time...? A group of unruly drunks? An actual sober person?

Ah the possibilities in her mind were endless, but she did oh so enjoy it.

She sat back in her seat and watched around for her prey. Deciding she'd stick around. Once she found the right target...then and only then would her role be decided.

She leaned back, with her fork carrying the last morsel of her meal, dropping it delicately in her mouth, the smile on her face most akin to a hunter...a wolf one might even say.

Sitting there with her eyes shining in the moonlight, openly baring her fangs to the world as she sat and waited for some gullible chump to walk over and take the bait.

"She won't get too far." The old man said to his wife.

As she sped on the highway of Deling City, she weaved in between cars dangerously. The speed pumped her adrenaline causing her to feel on edge. Her heart pumped against her chest rapidly as the speed had become increasingly difficult for her to handle. What is the speed or something else? She remembered her promise to a special someone and slowed down to the speed limit. Her hand grasped the the visor from her helmet and lifted it to get some more air into her lungs.

The old man, before she was able to speed away, shot a tranquilizer dart into her arm. With her leather jacket, she did not feel the initial pinch. Her eyes struggled to stay awake.

"W-what's wrong with me? Stop being a chicken wuss Estrella" She whispered to herself. Her hands slapped at her helmet to get her to snap out of her sleepy state. The motorcycle swerved left to right as she was no longer able to keep it steady. The motorcycle's weight soon became too much for her exhaustion. In her last conscious moment, she stopped and fell over. The cycle was dropped at its side in the process of her falling over. Her body tumbled down a grassy hill on the outskirts of Deling City.

She had no idea that there was a hired hit on her. The last thing she remembered was darkness.

The moment that Alias gulped the last piece of the cheesecake he was eating, he returned to normal stern, serious personality of his. He then sighed and thought of what his business here was again:" I still can't remember." While resting his full stomach, he crossed his arms and pondered.

A few moments later, he saw the eye-catching girl again. She seems to be doing something rather unusual in Alias' eyes. She seems to have her mouth open for a bit longer than expected. "What a weird one," he said to himself while staring at her. Since he never cared about other people paying attention to him, he kept on staring at the young girl out of sheer curiosity.

Anju licked her lips and kept waiting, watching people continue on with their own agendas. 

Until she happened to notice that the guy she'd previously been spying on through this time on and off was now making eyes at her, and she blinked. Usually no one paid much mind to her unless she was actually making a scene, both good or bad.

Unfortunately, he just wasn't her type. At least not victim wise.

So instead she decided to spare him of any ill will. And waved at him silently to get his attention.


"Hey there!" She said, striking up the conversation and breaking the tension between them first. "This place is pretty amazing isn't it?" She continued, playing it as cool as ever. Perhaps he'd just right off whatever weirdness he'd witnessed off as just her having a stressful day, or wishing ill will on that darn bike rider.

"I saw you devouring  that cheesecake pretty fiercely, guess it must have been delicious huh?" She joked, playing off as both observant but innocent. "Sure wish I had the gil to afford that!"


She laughed and kept eye contact with him, deciding that if she was really gonna play this off like she meant it, she might as well engage this person in conversation. Considering he'd been around since that darn biker and her stupid loud bike came cruising into town, they'd probably be able to have a pretty decent conversation.

"So how about that....darn biker huh?" She continued, a vein bulging as she hissed out her previous annoyance's current name. "Freaking annoying right?"

She lay unconscious on the side of the road. Her motorcycle crashed alongside her. It was not heavily damaged, but there were noticeable scratches on the purple paint. The side mirrors were cracked and taken completely off by the crashing of the bike into the hard ground. While she was out cold on the side of the road, a man walked over to her and crouched next to her. He had a wicked smirk upon his face.

"Looks like I found my retirement fund." The crouched man wickedly grinned at the woman who was helpless to resist. Without hesitation, he scooped her up into his arms and walked over to a black van that he used to run his mercenary business.

He was staring at Anju until he realized after a few seconds that she was talking to him.  He was surprised, but he played cool by replying: "I've been here a few times. There's nothing too dazzling about this place." He then uncrossed his arms and put them on the table.

Anju then mentioned about him 'devouring' the cheesecake and told her: "I haven't eaten a cheesecake for a very long time. You'll rarely see me like that." The then pondered about himself, exposing his soft side with other people noticing him. Damn... I should be more aware if people are looking at me. He then told Anju: "Well, if you were a SeeD, money won't be such a problem with you."

The young girl then talked to him about that loud accursed biker. He then closed his eyes, and replied to Anju's statement: "Yeah. I've never seen that person before, but she sure was rushing like she's running away from a , or something." He then sighed and continued: "To think that it was a woman, too. I wonder what her problem was."

Suddenly, he remembered his curiosity about Anju. He wanted to know more about her, but the distance between them makes Alias feel uncomfortable. "Since you're talking to me, might as well sit with me." He told Anju as he offered his seat.
