Once over, Noel would have winced at the sound and the feel of rending his weapon from flesh, but being a seasoned hunter, that feeling had passed a long time ago. Instead, he betrayed little emotion as he pulled back, the kick aimed connecting lightly with his stomach as he pulled back. He should have barely felt anything, in fact he did, but just a moment later he could feel that something wasn't quite right. A dull, cold ache could be felt on his stomach, and he chanced a quick glance downward as he faced off to his original target, Estrella. Doing so, it was little wonder he had begun to feel a little numb in that area, as a patch of ice had settled itself firmly on his abdomen. Just what he needed, he thought with a slight scowl as he then returned his attention to the situation at hand.
Assessing the situation further, it didn't take a genius to figure out that there were now two targets, once of which had been physically weakened by both the assault from the man who now lay bleeding on the floor and his own strike. He was young, but apparently a potent magic user. The other was a spoiled diva who had the potential to be equally dangerous as a long range fighter. She was also a magic user, meaning that perhaps he should concentrate on his own magical capabilities. He was mostly a melee fighter, his technique perfected through years of training in order to hunt his next meal in a dying world, but he wasn't that bad a mage either, particularly when it came to wind magics.
With the threat from Estrella, as well as the warning from her new companion, Noel merely shook his head as he responded.
"I can't do that, Estrella", he responded coolly to the woman, "and I would rather this didn't get messy either, but I need those files.", he finished with a tone that was less of a threat and more of a genuine need, almost desperation, as if his life actually depended on it. It did, in a sense, as it seemed the only way to resume the life he had finally reclaimed with Yeul. There was nothing left more important to him than her, and he would do what it took to see her safe and happy once again. It was this trail of thought that had almost led him to kill Lightning back in Luxerion, but this was different. Or was it? Either way, whatever mission he was given by the rebels in the mean time, he would follow if it meant that he could return to the new world that each and all of his friends had a hand in creating. Once again denied to a meaningful existence had taken its toll, making anyone wonder if he would really stop at nothing this time.
